It was another day of turbulence in the Google algorithm changes and according to a reliable source, the updates came either late in the previous night or early on Friday morning. It was also speculated that while the first update was on core web search, the other seemed to be upon Google local rankings.
The most noticeable change was observed in local searches, where, it was reported that, Google has removed local results that were found to be spammy. This will result in changing the look of the local SERP. There is a lot of speculation on what is happening actually, after the updates were noticed. Questions put to webmasters and digital marketing experts received cagey replies, indicating that there was nothing that can be announced. Going by reports in the SEO community, the updates cannot be said as a quality update, rather, it has to do with local searches. Google has been asked about the updates, and a reply is awaited soon.
But what really happened, that gave enough reasons for an early chatter among the SEO community, was that, noticeable changes were observed in the visibility of page 1, when it came to ranking. It was observed that some big players were displaced by local sites, which had mustered enough strength. SEO Experts are keeping their fingers crossed on whether there will be a spike in the conversion of traffic. It will take time for the temperature to calm down.
