In a major announcement about keyword types, Google is also set to update its Phrase Match type by expanding its scope to match more keywords.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>So, what exactly are the changes and how does this impact marketers? Read on to know:<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"has-text-color has-luminous-vivid-orange-color\"><strong>Google\u2019s 2021 Update for Keyword Match Types:&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>While Google is phasing out Broad Match Modifier type keywords, it has updated the Phrase Match to improve the scope of search while giving the broader appeal of <strong>Broad Match Modifier<\/strong> type of keywords. <br><br> Before the update, with Phrase Match, the query must have the exact phrase to trigger the ad which is no longer needed with this Google update. So now queries with additional words in between or after will be able to trigger the ad, the order can also change unless it changes the meaning and intent of the query.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p style=\"color:#1d0885\" class=\"has-text-color\"><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Example 1:&nbsp;<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Take a Phrase Match Keyword \u2018Best holiday spots in Kerala\u2019 for example:<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><strong>Before the Google update<\/strong>: The ad will not be triggered if the search query entered by the user is \u2018best holiday trekking spots in Kerala\u2019<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><strong>After the Google update<\/strong>: The ad will be triggered for update phrase match since the\r\nupdated phrase match has to include a broad match modifier so any additional\r\nwords in query will not matter.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p style=\"color:#1d0885\" class=\"has-text-color\"><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Example 2: <\/span><\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>If the phrase match keyword happens to be \u2018<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.samskritisolutions.com\/pay-per-click-management.php\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"PPC Advertising Companies in Hyderabad (opens in a new tab)\">PPC Advertising Companies in Hyderabad<\/a><\/strong>\u2019.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><strong>Before the Google update:<\/strong>&nbsp; The keyword type will not trigger the ad if the search query is <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.samskritisolutions.com\/pay-per-click-management.php\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Best Companies for PPC Advertising in Hyderabad (opens in a new tab)\">Best Companies for PPC Advertising in Hyderabad<\/a><\/strong>, as the phrase in not in its exact form is present in the search queries. <\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><strong>After the\r\nGoogle update<\/strong>: With new\r\nupdate phrase match, the order and additional words doesn\u2019t matter unless the\r\nmeaning changes and all the keywords are present in the query. So the ad is\r\ntriggered.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p style=\"color:#1d0885\" class=\"has-text-color\"><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Example 3:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Let us take another example with \u2018Moving Services from Hyderabad to Warangal\u2019 as phrase match keyword.<br><br>In this case, the ad will be triggered if the search query is \u2018Moving and Packing Services from Hyderabad to Warangal\u2019 since the additional word doesn\u2019t matter and intent has not changed. However, if the search query is Moving and Packing Services from Warangal to Hyderabad\u2019 the intent has changed, the ad will not be triggered.<br><br>So in short, updated phrase match will now consider the order only if the meaning when it is important to the search query\u2019s intent and meaning.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"has-text-color has-luminous-vivid-orange-color\"><strong>How does the Google update for Keyword match types impact SEM marketers?<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>The benefit of phasing out BMM does save time for PPC experts of smaller accounts and only moderately simplify the data collection process. \u201cSaved time from reduced options can be directed towards optimization which is often a time-consuming task for smaller accounts\u201d, says one of the PPC experts at <strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Samskriti Business Solutions (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.samskritisolutions.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Samskriti Business Solutions<\/a><\/strong>.<br><br>However, PPC experts who depend more on BBM for their traffic will have to take the hit as the traffic may reduce.
